The name Gayatri is infact referred for a vedic hymn which is Gayatri Mantra and is addresses to the supreme power which is Surya Dev the Lord of Light. It is believed that a person who repeats this myntra everyday and 3000 times a month is free from every guilt. The correct pronunciation is Om bhur bhuvah svah, Tat savitur varenyam, Bhargo devasya dheemahi, Dhiyo yo na prachodayaat. It is said that this vedic hymn in the form of a beautiful girl married Lord Bramha and was his other wife than Goddess Saraswati. Hence Gayatri is Bramha, Gayatri is Vishnu, Gayatri is Mahesh and she is the Vedas.
